Alsande Upkari / Chawli Bhaji / Yard long Beans stir fried.


Simple Alsande Upkari / Chawli Bhaji / Yard long Beans stir fried.


Cut about 3 cups of the vegetable (Alsande/Chawli) into 2 inch length pieces. Wash and strain in a colander and let all the water drain off.












Heat 1 tblsp oil in a thick bottomed kadai, when hot add 1 tsp rai (sasam) when they splutter add in 3-4 red chillies cut into pieces and a few curry leaves and fry for a minute.












Lower the heat to medium and add in the cut vegetable, fry it for a few minutes take care as to not burn the vegetable. Lower the heat to minimum, add salt to taste, cover and cook till done.












Check the vegetable in between, if you find it sticking to the bottom / getting burnt sprinkle some water and mix well very gently.


Cover and cook on low flame till done.


Add 1 tblsp of freshly grated coconut to the upkari, mix well and serve with Dal and Rice.
