Simple Batate Peja Upkari / Potato Patal Gojju.


Simple Batate Peja Upkari / Potato Gojju / Seasoned Mashed Potatoes.

Pressure cook 2 potatoes & mash them roughly. Add required amount of water (about 2 cups) to make it into a thick sort of gravy & bring to a boil. The thickness of this potato peja upkari is similar to thick Dalitoy.

Heat 2tblsp oil in a small kadai. Add rai(sasam) about 1tsp, when they splutter add 3-4 green slit chillies, 1tblsp of hing powder & 5-8 curry leaves. Pour this over the potato peja upkari. Serve hot. 

Note: Some do like a bit of sourness in this ... so you can add 2 tblsp beaten curds or 1tsp of tamarind water. I have added here 1 Hogplum (Ambado). You can add 1-2 bimbul-cooked & mashed if available. However this is optional & need not be added at all.
