Moong-dal Payasam / Moogadali Godshe...............


Wash and pressure cook 1 cup of moong dal to 3-4 whistles... Mix well. Add water if necessary. Add about 200 gms of grated jaggery (more or less depending upon your taste), and bring to a boil till the jaggery melts. Be careful as the moong dal if not stirred often may get stuck or burnt at the bottom of the vessel. Add in 200 ml of coconut milk ( i added ready made one's available in the market) lower heat and bring to a boil, add water if it is very thick. 

Seasoning : Heat 1tblsp of ghee add some cashews, fry till slightly brown add a few raisins, when they swell remove amd add to moong dal payasam. Add a pinch of powdered cardamom. You can add saffron soaked in warm milk when adding in the coconut milk. Seve hot.
