Dalitoy / Daal - 1.


Dalitoy .........



Wash one cup of tuvar dal and pressure cook adding sufficient water to 4-5 whistles. Remove and churn the dal to requried thickness. The dal should not be too thin nor too thick. Add 4-5 medium sized green chillies slit lengthwise. Add salt and bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for a while.


For Seasoning : Heat ghee / oil in a small pan, when hot add 1 tsp rai (sasam), when they splutter, add 6-8 curry leaves, 1 tsp of hing powder, pinch of turmeric and add to the Dal.

Note: You can add one red chilli while seasoning. You can also add 1/2" of ginger grated / chopped while boiling the dal tastes great.
